Haba Playing Rug Dwarf’s Land

Haba has made some amazing play mats in the past and their current lineup includes the adorable Dwarf’s Land playing rug. When you unfold this play mat, you’re unfolding a whole new world for your little one. Three-dimensional elements bring this make-believe land to life with a bridge to drive over or under, whimsical buildings to go through, and a mirrored lake to gaze in. While your baby will love laying on his tummy and grabbing at the sun or butterfly now, you can be sure he’ll still play with on this mat for years to come, rolling his cars through the town.

Skip Hop Treetop Friends Activity Gym

Skip Hop’s Treetop Friends Activity Gym transports your baby to a woodland forest. There she’ll find owls that crinkle, rattle, and roll; a soft activity book to explore; a mirror to make faces in; a tummy time pillow to rest on; and more. The best part is that the toys that hang along the removable arches of this play mat can be taken on-the-go for fun in the stroller or in the car.

Mimi the Sardine Organic Cotton Splat Mat

The clever Splat Mat from Mimi the Sardine is made from organic cotton — not toxic PVC as many are — yet, it has a water-based acrylic coating that makes it easy to wipe down. Place it under your little one’s highchair to catch inevitable mealtime messes or below the craft table on finger-painting day — it’s machine washable, too. And the mat is still soft enough for little ones to plop down on for a play.

I may be wrong but I think the mat you’re asking about is made my Infantino. My Mom has one just like it at her house for my youngest when we come over. If it is the same one it’s wonderful!

What does “best in sustainable play mats” mean? Are these a more organic option with less off-gasing? Or does it mean the resources used in manufacturing are sourced in a sustainable manner?

Hi there, thanks for this great list. When my son started crawling at around 5 or 6 months, I had a hard time finding a play mat that met my expectations in terms of safety and eco-friendliness. For that reason, I decided to create a safe and non-toxic play mat – the Kutchu play mat. It is the only children’s play mat made of natural rubber, which is a safe, non-toxic and eco-friendly material. The Kutchu play mat was safety-tested and certified to meet all North American toy safety standards (Canadian and US standards). What’s great about natural rubber, on top of the safety factors, is that it’s eco-friendly, compared to plastic-based synthetic materials. NR is a renewable resource which comes from the sap of the rubber tree, and it’s also bio-degradable which means it will not leave a footprint in the landfill at the end of its useful life the way plastics do. I found CorkiMat after one month rearch and we love the mats! It was a tough decision because manufacturers don’t reveal what they really use on the mats. The reason I decided CorkiMat is because they show what they use and it is made in USA. My son enjoys playing on it and takes happy naps after playing. When I am nursing, I also fall asleep easily because it is so soft and comfy. It It is pricy but I appreciate the materials they use. Hope they can make it cheaper so more babies can enjoy CorkiMat. I definitely love the Haba Playing Rug as it has lots of options for baby to roll around and play. I believe its design to be actually better than the traditional toys hanging on top of his head as my first two got really frustrated with them as they couldn’t reach them. We are currently living in Spain and I recently found it on http://bebe.deskuentos.es/categoria-producto/actividad-y-entretenimiento/alfombras-de-juego-y-gimnasios/ if anyone expats are living in Europe. Haba makes some really cool stuff.
