When I first saw this, my reaction was, “Seriously? How is a teether toy ‘more green’ than g-diapers? You go through hundreds of diapers in a baby’s life and maybe three or four teether toys!” but I now see that it’s not which is more green–it’s which is your fave.

Good luck teaching your kids NOT to gnaw on your wrists, people. :)

I really like your website – but I’m a bit disappointed that you present the BELLE BABY CARRIER. It might be a green product – BUT it’s VERY unhealthy for the hip of a baby. Especially when it is used the way it is shown in the second example – when the baby is with its back to its mom.
It’s easy to understand when you compare it for example with the Ergo Baby Carrier: http://www.ergobaby.eu/en/ergo_baby_products.html

So… BELLE BABY CARRIER: Maybe green – but surely bad for the kid.

I have a Belle Baby Carrier and LOVE IT!! I believe your information is unfounded Suse. Check out their website http://www.bellebabycarriers.com. They have information on your FALSE allegations.

No Jen, I’m sorry – but it’s just a fact that those carriers like Belle Baby Carriers are very bad for the hip of a baby. Over here in Europe there are almost none of those carriers anymore – exactly because of that reason.

Have you ever seen Zoobies? That’s my new favorite green baby product: a stuffed animal, pillow and blanket all in one and made from recycled plastic bottles. Very clever design…My son loves his!

    Hi guys-

Glad to see there is a healthy debate on this post. I would like to share with you that I have BOTH an Ergo carrier AND a Bellle carrier and they are both great for different things. Suse, there is no reason why you have to carry your child facing outward on a Belle Carrier. I used my Belle carrier from about 2 months to 11 months and almost always had my son facing me. The Ergo is a great carrier for older, heavier children but it is just too puffy and big and complicated for a little newborn. I only started using my Ergo at about 1 year old, when I retired my Belle carrier. Up until 1 year old the Belle carrier was awesome (and my son loved it too). Now that my baby is 24 lbs, the Ergo is a godsend for my back. But at 3 months it was just a pain in the butt. You aren’t a undercover marketing agent for Ergo are you? ;)

Baby carriers can be very healthy for the baby, it just depends on how you use them. The conversation on here is great b/c it gives parents like myself info we can use when deciding if and how to carry our children. So thank you for bringing to light the possible hip issue. There is a site dedicated to organic baby wraps, carriers and the such at http://www.organicbabycarriers.net if you would like to see some of the other organic carriers out there.

i wish we could vote for Gro Baby diapers instead of G diapers- in terms of “green” I think they do well with the absorbent/ flushable part of the diaper, but their “pants” are a pain, they don’t wear well, are size- specific, come with tedious liners and the cloth alternative doesn’t hold enough to change less than every 45 minutes…. GroBaby’s bio-soakers work wonderfully, are also compostable, their cloth option is FAR better, and their shell lasts a LOT longer, and fits 8 lbs to 35 lbs…. so maybe not as trendy, but a better green diaper by far!!
