Today’s green movement is definitely gaining ground, but sometimes it’s hard to differentiate between who’s just ‘talking the talk’, and who’s actually ‘walking the walk’ toward a sustainable lifestyle. As parents, it’s our privilege and our duty to instill eco-mindedness into our children. Green living needn’t be an alternative in their eyes if their first footsteps are taken on a genuine emerald path. Slip a pair of Simple Shoes onto their little feet, and they will stand firmly on the lifelong mission to save our precious planet.

Simple in name, but not in style or design, the Simple kids shoe line is comprised of eco-friendly materials and boasts sassy, fashionable construction. We love the Toddler’s GT Janie (pictured above in Slate Rose), a totally vegan shoe made with no animal byproducts. Crafted with hemp uppers, bamboo lining, a coconut button, organic cotton canvas cover and crepe midsole, this shoe is rich in plentifully available, renewable resources.

Kids will get a kick out of these kicks because the outsoles are made from recycled tires. No two are alike, and most bear markings from their previous life on the open highway. They can continue to add mileage to the durable soles, and their traction on the playground will be hard to beat. Pick up some Simple shoes on your next pit stop. This is one case where being “Simple” minded is actually a good thing.

Toddler’s GT Janie retails for $45.00.

I love the idea behind Simple’s shoes but I hate the fact they are all made in China. Where is there a happy medium??
