Summer’s on its way, and you and your little ones are going to be out and about enjoying nature. Staying hydrated is important, but carrying around all those plastic water bottles is not only bulky and expensive, but super bad for the planet. Buying your tot his very own reusable water bottle is a great green alternative to using plastic disposable bottles. Read on to find out why now is the best time ever to choose a cool, new reusable water bottle from SIGG.
SIGG Kids bottles are tested to be 100% safe, durable and leak-proof. You can fill your tot’s SIGG with water, milk, or organic juice, and rest assured that flavors wash out after each use. No icky, weird tasting water! SIGG bottles are also non-toxic, 100% leach-free, and dishwasher safe. Best of all, SIGG bottles cut down on all that plastic waste. What sort of plastic waste?:
- Plastic water bottles ARE recyclable, so you may think a reusable bottle is a non-issue. However, very few folks recycle their bottles. 8 out of 10 plastic water bottles end up in landfills according to the Container Recycling Institute (CRI).
- The Earth Policy Institute notes that it takes about 1.5 million barrels of oil yearly to make plastic water bottles.
- Lastly, just to manufacture plastic bottles is harmful for the planet. Creating plastics over and over again, releases chemicals into our air, soil, and water supply. Not to mention that these same chemicals can be leached into your child’s beverage from the plastic bottle.

I admit I’m a sucker for SIGGs… we’ve got about 4 at home right now.
A word of warning to anyone considering the flask style bottles (I don’t think they offer these for kids btw)… the one I bought started to smell mildewy shortly after I got it. I’m told that its specific to the flasks, so keep this in mind if you’re wooed by one.
