As cute, chirpy and succinct as its name, the ‘Stack-Chick,’ a prototype designed by Sharon Myoung, a recent graduate of the Pratt Institute, is a stacking toy with a hidden surprise. Four donut shapes stack in a color coordinated fashion to create a squinty, little chick. As each ring is removed, a nestled egg inside the donuts is revealed. The egg is meant to encourage childrens’ curiosity about the process of nature, while teaching them which animals lay eggs. Once this darling toy finds a manufacturer, we’d suggest making it out of non-toxic EVA foam.

Ergonomic Plastic School Desk from QProducts

QDesk, QProducts, rotomolded plastic school desk, eco-friendly, school, tables, chairs

The iconic school desk chair gets a 21st-century makeover with QProductsQDesk, a molded plastic one-piece that can be recycled at the end of its life. Made from 100% polyethylene, the QDesk won’t corrode like metal or warp like wood, and it’s easier to manufacture because it’s all one material. It’s also designed with ergonomics in mind, which makes a ton of sense considering how much time your child spends hunched over in a school desk for hours on end. Bonus: The back contains a built-in cubby for assorted knickknacks. Both left-hand and right-hand options are available, in 14″ and 16″ versions.
