The holiday season just got a little brighter with our discovery of this amazing Outdoor Fireplace designed by Oslo based architects Marit Justine Hagen and Dan Zoharto combine an enclosed space for fire, storytelling and playing.” Made out of leftover materials from a nearby construction site in Trondheim, Norway, the design of the Outdoor Fireplace is inspired by Norwegian turf huts and old log construction. What a perfect, toasty winter haven for singing carols and roasting chestnuts!

The Outdoor Fireplace‘s structure is comprised of 80 layered circles — and each circle is made out of twenty-eight pieces of core of pine which are strategically positioned with varying spaces to assure natural light and chimney effect. Oak separators placed vertically between the pine pieces facilitate airflow and allow for easy drying of the pine pieces. Set atop a concrete base, the Outdoor Fireplace also features a double curved sliding door for locking the structure.

Both my wife and I love the outdoor fireplace! We want one for our house in La Jolla (San Diego), southern California!
