We’ve got the scoop on a revolutionary new ice cream flavor… ‘Baby Gaga’ breast milk ice cream is now being served at the Icecreamists restaurant in London’s Covent Garden. At $23 per serving, Icecreamists founder Matt O’Connor trusts that dessert enthusiasts will gladly pay to experience the “miracle of motherhood” which is blended with Madagascan vanilla pods and lemon zest before being churned into ice cream. The cool treat is actually an entire experience — it is served by a costume-clad waitress dressed as ‘Baby Gaga,’ who uses a syringe to pour liquid nitrogen into a martini glass filled with breast milk ice cream, and is then garnished with a rusk. For added measure, the culinary novelty may also be served with whiskey upon request.
The Icecreamists is seeking women who want to donate fresh-pumped breast milk to keep their freezer full of the concoction. Victoria Hiley was paid to pump up the first batch of breast milk, which was whipped into 50 servings. She offers, ‘It wasn’t intrusive at all to donate – just a simple blood test. What could be more natural than fresh, free-range mothers milk in an ice cream?’ Hiley hopes that once people gain an understanding of how delicious breast milk is, more women will want to nurse their newborns. We wonder if people across the pond will give breast milk infused foods a warmer reception than they do in America. Remember NYC Chef Angerer’s Mommy’s Milk cheese?
