#2: Toys
Once again we started by sorting the toys into those same three piles; keep, donate, and sell. This is another area where bins were essential. We wanted to keep all of his
toys organized by type, but make it so they were accessible and easy to move from room to room. We used large reusable bins for
LEGO bricks, action figures and play animals. Then, we used smaller reusable bins for toys such as light sabers, Nerf blasters, and tiny little toys that only children could love. All of these bins fit perfectly into the bottom shelve of his bookcase, making it easy for him to pull them in and out while playing. We used extra large, lightweight bins in the top and bottom of his closet to hold stuffed animals and stackable bins with lids to hold LEGO bricks in his closet.
Where did you get his bed? I’ve been looking everywhere for one like this…
Hi kdavi,
It use to be a bunk bed with desk underneath that we purchased years ago at IKEA. We cut the desk and bed apart to make a bed that is large and close to the ground, and repurposed the desk portion to make a creative space for my son. You can see the process here: http://www.mysweetgreens.com/2011/10/ikea-hack-turn-loft-bed-into-regular.html
Warmly,
Jennie
