#1: Clothing
We started with organizing all of my son's clothing because this is where we were having the biggest issue. First, he tried on each piece of clothing so we could decide if it still fit him. Then, we sorted the clothing into three piles; keep, donate and sell.He has two large bins that slide under his bed to hold play clothes, undergarments, swimsuits, hats, belts and pajamas. However, these bins were such a mess that sometimes he would have a hard time finding a pair of socks in the morning. We placed smaller reusable bins inside the larger bins and then sorted the clothing into each bin. One for socks, one for undergarments, one for winter weather pajamas, one for summer pajamas, etc. Then, in his closet we simply put all of his school uniforms on one end of the bar and all of his nice and formal clothing on the other.
Where did you get his bed? I’ve been looking everywhere for one like this…
Hi kdavi,
It use to be a bunk bed with desk underneath that we purchased years ago at IKEA. We cut the desk and bed apart to make a bed that is large and close to the ground, and repurposed the desk portion to make a creative space for my son. You can see the process here: http://www.mysweetgreens.com/2011/10/ikea-hack-turn-loft-bed-into-regular.html
Warmly,
Jennie
