HOW TO: Make Outdoor Lanterns out of Recycled Tin Cans

Step 1: Gather the Supplies

  • tin cans
  • spray paint (preferably zero VOC)
  • wire
  • pliers or strong scissors
  • awl

Step 2: Prepare the Cans

Hit the recycling bin for the tin cans, thoroughly wash them, remove the labels and dry completely.

Step 3: Create the Handle Holes

Using your awl and mallet (or a nail and hammer) punch two large holes at the top of either end of the tin can. This is where your wire handle will go.
