Why not read this book together to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday today, and then head outside to make your own Oobleck? All you need are a few common ingredients you probably already have in the house. It only takes a few minutes to make, but it entertained my boys for several hours on a Saturday. They were mesmerized by the way that Oobleck is both a liquid and a solid, making for an afternoon of get-your-hands-dirty fun! Read on to learn how to make Oobleck with your little ones.
What you will need for Dr. Seuss’s Oobleck:
- bowl
- 1 cup organic cornstarch
- 1 cup water
- a empty plastic container from the recycling bin
- natural food coloring (optional)
- something to stir with (that won’t become stained by the food coloring)
Step 1: Add Cornstarch
Have your child add the cornstarch to a large bowl.
Step 2: Slowly Add Water
Have your child slowly add water to the cornstarch, a little at a time until a thick syrup consistency appears.
Step 3: Add a Little Color
If you would like, you can add a few drops of food coloring.
