HOW TO: Make a Recycled Lava Lamp with Your Kids

What You Will Need for Recycled Lava Lamps:

  • empty bottle
  • cooking oil
  • water
  • food coloring
  • Alka-Seltzer

Step 1: Add the Oil

Have your child fill an empty container 3/4 full of cooking oil.

Step 2: Add the Water

Then, fill the rest of the bottle with water, leaving about an inch of bottle empty.

Step 3: Add a Little Color

Let your child drop 10 droplets of food coloring into the bottle.

    It only lasts a couple of minutes – that is why you break it into small pieces, so you can add more.
