Halloween has officially arrived! No doubt, children will be a bit crestfallen come Saturday morning, when all of the spook-filled, costumed festivities have ended. But, these adorable recycled monster friends from Junker Jane’s Shop at Etsy will give them something to hold on to throughout the year, as a creature comfort that keeps on giving.

These spooky pals are created out of various recycled materials by an artist named Catherine. For example, Monster Mignon is made from a thrift shop handmade bolero jacket. Loralei Sea Monster, the gal with the rosy tail below, is made from recycled fabrics purchased at a parking lot sale in Grants Pass, Oregon, and is adorned with vintage jewelry.
It’s worth a visit to Junker Jane’s, simply to read the fun stories Catherine writes about each stuffed toy, such as, “Truman is a tree monster that lives among the branches. He tries to camouflage himself despite his freak polka dot ear.”
*Safety notes: All of the recycled fabrics are washed and cleaned before use. All plush is stuffed with new polyfil. These monsters are not recommended for young children because of their buttons and other small parts, which may present a choking hazard.

Visit the Junker Jane blog if you’d like to read the creation stories behind the monsters (and other shop items), and to learn about new shop arrivals.

Oh, how cute!!! I just made my daughter a stuffed animal yesterday, that she has dubbed \"monster.\" These are way cuter, though!
Dear Jennifer Chailt,
Where are these for sale?
@Andrea – these are totally cute. That’s cool you made your daughter a stuffed pal – the best sewing I might manage would be a sock puppet – I’m talking glued on eyes (not a sewer).
@Diana – at Junker Jane’s shop at Etsy – http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5709113 there are TONS to choose from too!
why not just make them yourself? it would take like… a half hour.
