Ninja Halloween Costume by Lena Sekine
This is Jaxon’s third year entering this contest. It’s his family’s tradition to enter Inhabitot’s Green Halloween Contest every year! Their goal was to not purchase any materials to make the costume. They feel limitations bring out the creativity.
HOW TO MAKE THIS COSTUME
Head – Use a black cardigan and wrap it around your child’s head then tie the sleeve under their chin.
Face mask – Cut a piece from a black mesh ‘reusable bag’ with elastic on the ends to fasten around their ears.
Top – Using a long sleeve with a black v-neck top over can create the kimono sleeve illusion. Recycled black rope belt.
Pants – Make with black fabric remnants and waste band from a pair of old pants for the bottom of the pants to create the baggie look.
Tabi shoes (Traditional Japanese shoes) – Split black socks at the toes and wear flip-flops.
Accessories – Make Chinese stars from rug pad remnants and cut them to shape. Attach silver vinyl adhesive with black sharpie detail and add them to a recycled handbag strap with Velcro.
