Minecraft Steve Halloween Costume by Kristi Rubino
Kristi Rubino’s son Will loves everything Minecraft and wanted to be a character from the game. Since the game’s old-school characters are pixelated, Rubino decided to build him a simple yet ingenious pixelated costume from cardboard, foam board and squares of construction paper.
HOW TO MAKE THIS COSTUME
Cardboard boxes found at home make up the head and body.
Cut squares of construction paper and card stock are glued them on the box, leaving slight spaces here and there to make the pixels obvious.
Construction paper is used again to create squares to make up the sword. After gluing them onto foam board from an old school project, the sword shape was cut out. Rubino wanted it to be flat and non-dimensional like the game.
Will wore regular clothes under the costume and had an original costume of a character he loves.
