Shmuddle Buddies are made entirely in the United States and are 100% handmade by chief designer Jessica Butterick along with other talented women including crochet professionals, movie costumers and set designers, students, and moms who love to crochet. There are no factories involved and Shmuddle Buddies does not ever support child labor or unfair, exploitative labor practices.
Materials
Shmuddle Buddies are made with sustainable materials – in most cases, certified organic cotton yarn. Some of the Buddies are made from undyed wool or recycled fibers as well. The Shmuddle Buddies fabric patches come from durable vintage sheets and the dolls are stuffed with recycled, hypoallergenic fiberfill. Organic wool stuffing fill is available as well.

Material Sourcing
The organic cotton yarn used by Shmuddle Buddies is made from color-grown, Fair Trade Peruvian cotton and is grown and picked by hand. This cotton is grown without chemicals, pesticides, or genetically-modified (GMO) seeds.The yarn is dyed with wild botanicals not chemical colors and is also certified organic and Fair Trade. The wool stuffing comes from a 100-year-old GOTS certified cooperative near Ashland, Oregon.
