Have a child who loves to create and build or loves puzzles and designs? Then these all-natural cork building blocks, which recently debuted at the famous Milan Furniture Fair, would be perfect. With 16 different blocks and three different shapes, your child can create practically anything from their imagination or follow the patterns included with the set. These soft and lightweight Tono-8 Cork Blocks are colored with natural paints and make a wonderful alternative to wood blocks painted with toxic paints.
Tetsuo Tonouchi, a Japan-based toy-designer, is the creator of these soft and eco-friendly blocks. The blocks are included in the decorative Tono box, with each block measuring 8 cm x 16 cm x 4 cm. The building blocks are painted with non-toxic paints, and they can be bought in natural cork as well. The soft color range was chosen out of respect for children, as bright colors can sometimes be too loud. Tonouchi took this matter into account and used delicate colors to take children seriously. Created with safety in mind, the blocks have rounded corners, are soft to the touch and also very lightweight.
With 16 blocks, hundreds of creations are possible – everything from lobsters and buildings to faces and cars. The key block for all of these creations is the trapezoid, which makes creating practically any shape fun and easy. We love not only the simplicity of this beautiful set, but also its eco-friendly aspects. We would love to watch our children play with it as much as we would want to give it away as a gift or play with them ourselves.
