Great post and list of organic crib mattresses. It’s so hard to look online and really know what crib mattress will be the best without doing the proper research. I’ve heard good things about all the companies listed in your post, but I’d also recommend checking out Savvy Rest’s organic crib mattress – hope this helps! And again, thanks for the thorough research!
I have a baby boutique that specializing in eco friendly and organic baby products, (Organic Baby Chick), and we receive a lot of positive feedback for the Naturepedic mattresses. It is also the mattress I purchased for my daughter.
The issue that I have with the nook pebble mattress is that those individual pebbles are filled with recycled pop bottle plastic. Eco-friendly in a way…. but I just don’t see people ripping open each individual pebble at the end of the mattress life and recycling the plastic bits. I see plastic in garbage dumps ;( A big part of eco-friendliness is end-of-life plan.
The mattress that we have and are really happy with is Obasan natural rubber from real rubber trees. It smells beautiful, not rubbery, just clean. And Obasan has a big commitment to the environment and social equity in their materials sourcing and production.
The Nook Pebble Pure DOES NOT have recycled plastic products in it. The Pebble Lite does. I just called the company and asked them.
Oh. So, what is in the ‘pebbles’ for the Nook Pebble Pure then? The cover materials listed are:
Eucalyptus, Organic Cotton, Zinc, Polyester, Easy‐Close Nylon Zipper
