There’s a surefire way of making your little one the happiest baby on the block. It doesn’t involve swaddling or shushing, and it can be found in biodegradable packaging stamped with a smiling child, a rising sun, and a bowl of honest-to-goodness yum. The celebratory HAPPYBABY Food™ logo boldly communicates its intensions: Party in your tummy? Heck, yes! HAPPYBABY promises a solution to busy lives that “often make peeling, cooking, and pureeing fresh homemade food difficult” by providing “nutritious and convenient alternatives to highly processed baby food.” The food is delivered in colorful frozen squares, is divided into various stages (simple puree, smooth combos and sorta chunky) and is served up in an assortment of unusual meals that are endemic of HAPPYBABY’s Brooklyn roots (the most exotic being Baby Dahl).

With a name like HAPPYBABY it is easy to imagine what the logo may look like. But with its various elements and colors, I was happy that Shazi Visram (Founder and CEO) took time to offer a bit of explanation.

Please explain how that very happy logo came about. The founder of the company, Shazi Visram, who has a background in visual arts sketched it in a class while at Columbia Business School.

What design team (professional or otherwise) completed the final look of logo? Ann Design, primarily run by Ann Zipkin updated the logo to suit HAPPYBABY’s packaging and echo the shape of the cubes of food the company has become know for.

How long did it take to get the logo from rudimentary sketches to the final polished product? A few months

How is one expected to interpret the logo? Happiness and wellness stem from a nutritious diet.

That’s one happy baby in your logo. And he’s happy about… pea soup? Well the baby is happy about the long life of health and wellness ahead of him and is also happy that he gets to enjoy the tastes, colors and textures of fresh organic foods along the way.

Did any sustainability concepts (eco, green, etc.) go into the logo design? Sure, we utilized the sun’s rays to invoke the power of nature and the green color of the food in the baby’s bowl to represent fresh wholesome and natural food.

Are there any new changes coming for the HAPPYBABY logo? We just feel that it is perfect logo to represent our brand. We are pretty much in love with our logo, so it is great to be mentioned for it! —

HAPPYBABY food is so undeniably good parents will find it hard to resist finishing up what Jr. has left behind. And though licking his plate clean might save on a few gallons of water and some ounces of biodegradable dish soap, HAPPYBABY suggests getting a plate of your own. Below is a recipe for pasta sauce, an adult meal made with the frozen kiddy squares:

1. Heat a little olive oil in a small saucepan 2. Add a small clove of garlic, crushed or finely minced—saute for a bit (don’t let it brown). 3. Add 2 to 3 cubes of HAPPYBABY Smarter Squash (straight from the freezer is fine), a sprinking of kosher salt, fresh ground pepper, and some dried sage. 4. Turn heat down to low, cover, and let cubes thaw and then heat up. Stir occasionally. 5. Serve tossed with angel hair pasta, and shavings of fresh parmesan cheese sprinkled on top.

Serves: 1 adult (but you can certainly share)

Oh my goodness, who buys these. Healthy organic baby food has got to be the easiest thing in the world to make and freeze. I worry for the future if people actually prefer to buy rather than make something so simple.
