Baltic Amber Teething Necklace
Amber teething necklaces are the latest rage. Do you know why? It’s because they work!! I prefer raw amber to the polished since it has a higher retention of succinic acid. Succinic acid is the pain relieving and anti-inflammatory component in amber which rubs off of your skin to help the symptom. The lighter/cloudy color amber usually contains the highest amount of succinic acid. For some, high amounts of succinic acid can irritate the skin, so go with something that is in the middle. Like a all yellow necklace or a raw necklace with multi-colored amber.
All Natural Wooden Teethers
When your baby’s teeth are cutting, they need something hard and firm to gnaw on to help them break through. Many plastic teethers contain toxic additives that can leech into your baby’s mouth. That is why we recommend a natural wooden teether that is coated with beeswax! Rocklovepeace teethers are made from FSC-certified cherry wood and finished with a natural beeswax. You can get a peace sign, heart, or star. They also come in a biodegradable jute bag.
This was one of my favorite tricks when my daughter was in a lot of pain. I would freeze multiple washcloths and pull them out for her to chew on. The cold helps numb the pain and it calms the gums. To keep the washcloth from unraveling in the freezer, tie a twisty around the end to hold it together and untie when you take it out. Also, use a infant organic washcloth instead of a large one. Make sure you have a waterproof bib on while they chew or it could get messy.
Homeopathic Teething Relief
Out of all of the homeopathic teething medicines, the Boiron Camilia worked the best for us. It is purified water along with Chamomilla vulgaris 9C HPUS, Phytolacca decandra 5C HPUS, and Rheum officinale 5C HPUS. It is safe for infants 1 month and older. The active ingredients relieve pain accompanied by irritability. The formula relieves painful gums and relieves minor digestive disorder associated with teething. Also consult your pediatrician or homeopath before giving homeopathic treatments.
Another useful trick is freezing grapes, banana’s, peaches, watermelon, or apples and putting them into a mesh feeder for your baby to gnaw on. The mesh feeder will stop any chunks from breaking off into your child’s mouth and becoming a choking hazard. The Baby Safe Feeder is BPA, phthalate, PVC and latex free.
Natural Rubber Teether
I know many moms who swear by their 7 inch teething giraffe toy named Sophie. Not only is she adorable, her hooves and small head satisfy many painful gums. Several years ago, the LA Times even named Sophie the “status teether!” Sophie is made out of 100% natural rubber and is painted with food paints. Sophie has been around for 51 years, though has only been in the US for about 10. Vulli, Sophie’s manufacturer spends over 350,000 euros a year to make sure she is safe and pure and adheres to the strict policies of the CPSC.
Organic Cotton Teether
This was my daughter’s absolute favorite teether. Under the Nile fruits and veggies make excellent teethers for those hard to reach places like impending molars. They’re made out of 100% organic Egyptian cotton, so they are completely safe for your baby to suck and gnaw. And when your baby stops teething, these cute fruits and veggies make great play food items.
