#1: Read Together

Reading together as a family is one of the easiest, sweetest ways to spend an evening with your children. Incorporating reading into your holiday tradition is easy, you can start any day in December – a great time would be for the 12 Days of Christmas. Gather a stack of your favorite holiday stories, cups of cocoa and read one story each night together as a family, counting day to the big day.

#2: Make Photo Ornaments

Print out your favorite family photos, then hit your recycling bin and craft closet to gather supplies to make ornaments for the tree. When it comes to ornaments, each is special and has a memory behind it – when you make your own ornaments with your family photos, these keepsakes will easily become your families favorites to enjoy year after year – turning your holiday tree into a virtual photo album.

#3: Celebrate the Solstice

This year, winter solstice falls on December 21st. Celebrate the change in the seasons with your children. Take time to slow down, reflect and appreciate the coming of the winter season. Head outside for a long family walk or to stargaze on the longest night of the year.
