Mark May Designs Repurposed Robots from Salvaged Materials and Flea Market Finds

Each of his cleverly designed treasures is built from what many would call trash. May finds and salvages materials, acquires some donated pieces, and scours flea markets for appropriate parts. For the larger wooden pieces, May frequents the local Home Depot's bargain lumber bin to snatch up great materials before they are scrapped.

National Costume Swap Day is Coming Up!

National Costume Swap Day is Coming Up!

What if this Halloween you could keep it green, save money and have a lot of fun; all at the same time? Sounds great right? Well, National Costume Swap Day allows you this opportunity. National Costume Swap Day officially falls on Saturday, October 8, but events will be happening throughout the month. This event is jointly sponsored by three partners, Green Halloween, Swap.com and Kiwi Magazine. A costume swap is an event where people come together to swap out previous year’s Halloween costumes, in exchange for new-to-you costumes from another green family. The swap can be as simple as getting together with a few neighbors or as large as a citywide event. No matter the size of your event, a costume swap is the perfect way to save on the resources it takes to create new costumes, such as excess packaging, materials and shipping emissions. Plus, a green costume swap will save you a ton of cash and allows you to have fun celebrating the lead-up to Halloween too!

Rebrickable Offers New Ways to Build with Old LEGO Sets

New website Rebrickable helps you repurpose all of the LEGO sets you already have to build the structures and vehicles of sets you’ve never bought, and likely don’t have to. Chances are, your kid can build a pretty cool car with the bricks he has. To get instructions for new projects simply input the serial numbers of all of the sets you have, indicate whether or not you want the colors to match exactly, and if you’re looking for a specific set. Thanks to an extensive database, Rebrickable will deliver results of all of the other sets you can build (or closely build) with what you have, along with a list of any pieces you’re missing for an exact match.

Are Designer Disposable Diapers an Awesome Fad for Babies or Only Good for Huggies Bottom Line?

Are Designer Disposable Diapers an Awesome Fad for Babies or Only Good for Huggies Bottom Line?

This season Huggies is rolling out some designer disposable diapers at Walmart stores nationwide. Parents will be able to diaper their little one’s behind in a limited edition camouflage design or a diaper meant to resemble actual denim jeans. The denim diapers aren’t a new fad. These actually hit the baby diaper scene last year and were a big hit. So big in fact, that Huggies sold 60 million of them. There’s more than just style to the new Huggies Camo Diapers as well. For each pack purchased, Huggies Every Little Bottom program will be donating diapers to military families (up to 500,000 diapers total). It’s nice that a disposable diaper company is giving back, but it’s hard to ignore the crowded landfills and the other cons that come along with disposable designer diapers.

What do you think of designer disposable diapers?

  • 21 Votes I think it's a way for companies to charge parents more money and I won't buy them.
  • 8 Votes I think they're adorable. Babies deserve cute disposable diapers.
  • 80 Votes To heck with disposables - we use reusable cloth diapers.

Furo works well as a simple bowl or container in a living space or office, but it’s also a usable art object. Each leg of Furo is a colored pencil. When you place the sharpened pencil tips outward, Furo becomes a futuristic drawing device, turning out pieces of symmetrical art comparable to the popular Spirograph of the 80s.
