Pop Art DANO Ducki for Non-Toxic Bath Time Fun

When pop art sculptor Daniel Monahan‘s daughter Bella started teething in 2007, Monahan was well aware of and alarmed by news about lead, phthalates, PVC and bisphenol-A (BPA) in toys that his little girl might want to put in her mouth. With this in mind, papa Monahan launched DANO2 as a way to ensure that Bella could grow up with fun, safe, stylish and non-toxic toys. PREVIEW! New P’Kolino Green Baby Toys to Debut in May 2010

Growing Your Baby features an easy and adorable, eco-friendly craft we can all relate to (and readily have the supplies for!): finger puppets made out of stray baby socks!

Recycled Robot Sculptures by Gordon Bennett

Gordon Bennett’s trash-to-treasure robots were recently on display at the Paul Smith storefront on 5th Ave in lower Manhattan. Meant to intrigue passers-by rather than sell tailored shirts, the temporary installation was a fantastic addition to the store’s ‘outsider art’ series. Gordon Bennett hails from Brooklyn, and his sculptural robots are a mixture of found objects and newly acquired fixtures – just don’t let the robots get wind of that. Each stands regally (some up to 3 feet tall) awaiting that moment when an inquisitive imagination saves them from a life of stasis by animating them.
