What a great idea! I’d like to make a book for my college roommates newborn, to introduce him to all the people who are so excited to meet him, but don’t live nearby. Kind of like an extended family tree!

Our 2 1/2 yr old daughter already takes books with her everywhere (the store, grandma’s, to bed.) . Her two favorite shows are Super Why and Dora. She calls herself a “Super Reader” and has, for nearly 10 months now, said that she wants to be a teacher when she grows up.

This would be perfect for our little girl Ava, we would be incredibly thankful if we were picked.

Thank you (fingers crossed),
Simon, Andrea and Ava Bella.

I want to make an ABC book of my favorite bands to help develop my little girls’ taste in music. Not the stuff you’d find on trapper keepers (do they even make those any more?) and no boy bands either – just cool stuff like Led Zeppelin and Radiohead. Top on the list would be bands my wife and I have seen together.

We have road tested these books ourselves at home, having switched over to Shutterfly custom photo albums after the print-and-slide-into-plastic-pocket thing failed to last for more than 10 seconds with our little one, or prevent their fingers from touching yucky plastic pieces. Since she was old enough to flip through books, we have allowed her to look through books with photos of herself as an even smaller baby and and other family members, and she’s loved it.

The neat thing about these Shutterfly albums is they allow you to use photo albums – i.e. LOOK at them :) – not just put them up on a shelf somewhere. And no more toxic plastic residues coming off on little mouth-prone hands anymore. That was a huge deciding factor for us in switching.

All that to say that we would love to be able to make our next Shuttefly family book with this eco and style conscious gift you are offering. Thank you!!

It would be such a unique keepsake for the years to come. x

My first and only granddaughter was born in early March in Texas. Because I have major issues with pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in the lungs, among other risky clots), I’m forbidden to fly from the NW corner of the country (think almost Canada) to meet my grandbaby; high altitudes are a big no-no-for those with clotting factors). I have digital pics, though not enough and looking at them on a computer screen leaves a lot to be desired. I would DEARLY love, appreciate, and be eternally grateful for such an adorable album for my granddaughter’s pics. Thank you so much for offering the gifts of these albums; I’m grateful even if I don’t win. Namaste’.

My two-year-old is a major bookworm – she goes through stacks and stacks of books daily. My idea is to create an ABC book of her reading books. Totally meta, I know, but she’d go crazy over it. So, I’d shoot pictures of her reading reading reading wonderful picture books and then arrange the photos alphabetically. “A” would be for Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, “J” would be for “Jamberry,” “W” would be for “Where the Wild Things Are.” You get the idea. Many pages would feature her reading multiple books beginning with the same letter. As a stay-at-home mom itching to make use of my degree in youth librarianship, the thought of this project makes me giddy. Not only will my daughter looove reading about herself reading, the book will also serve as an excellent memento of this very special time in our little bibliophile’s life.

User Gravatar
snowshack Says:

Oh no! Please forgive the second post, but I forgot to include an important piece of my book idea. To step up the fun factor of both the book production and the finished product, I will take pictures of my daughter reading in a variety of places: In the window seat, under the covers, in the car, at the library, under the table, in a fort, in a tree (with a little assistance, of course). And, just wait until I get my husband involved in thinking of reading spots and poses . . . things could get a little ridiculous, but super fun.

This is a great opportunity for a child to start learning about their heritage at an early age. When my wife and I found out our first child was on his way 15 years ago, one of the baby books we put together had all the photos of the grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, etc. that we could find. The kids loved it! Over the years it was basically worn out but by then we had three kids and lots of stories about them. Someday I’ll put a book together for each of their children – and the story continues on forever. A real example of a never ending story!

When my daughter was 5 months old, she became gravely ill with a rare neurotoxin called botulism. In the course of 4 hours, she became completely paralyzed. She was emergency airlifted to a research university hospital where she remained in the pediatric intensive care unit for a month… hooked up to breathing machines, being fed by a tube, etc. As horrifying of an experience as it was, my method of coping was to document like crazy. I kept a detailed journal, and took tons and tons of photos to monitor her progress every single day. Now that she has fully recovered (huge sigh of relief) I would like to make a book to document our experience. Someday, she is going to want to see the pictures and hear the stories… I’ve been meaning to do this for months, but my husband has been laid off and every penny counts. So… if we received a coupon for a free book we could REALLY put it good use. Thanks!
