With four splayed legs and a nub of wood protruding from its posterior, the Caterpillar Stool by NinetoNine looks more like a reductionist’s take on a sheep than a wriggly grub. Think of each stool as a modular segment of a larger whole, however, and the larval analogy starts to make sense. Made out of laminated pine by the same Spanish company that brought us the exceptionally cool Deskhouse, individual stools can be snapped together to form a bench, or plied apart for solo seating. Connecting Caterpillar Stools are available unfinished or in blue, red, or white.
