Diapers are usually given the most attention and thought when it comes to greening baby’s changing regime. But baby wipes are equally important in terms of caring for baby and the health of the planet. Most disposable baby wipes contain alcohol and potent perfumes that can be very irritating to a baby’s delicate bottom. Many brands of baby wipes are also saturated in liquid solutions which leave excessive moisture on baby’s bum… and where there’s moisture, diaper rashes may soon follow. Here are 3 great, eco-friendly choices of baby wipes, which will be kind to your baby and easier on the earth.

1) Disposable Wipe Recommendation
Seventh Generation Baby Wipes

Seventh Generation baby wipes contain a soothing combination of aloe vera and Vitamin E lotion. They are hypo-allergenic, whitened without chlorine bleach, unscented, and alcohol free… all attributes which lend themselves to successful, healthy diaper changes.

+ Best deal: Buy in bulk on Amazon.com – $41.99/12 packs

2) Disposable Wipe Recommendation
Nature Babycare Wipes

Nature Babycare wipes are also chlorine and alcohol free. They are made from biodegradable wood pulp which is sustainably harvested from Scandinavian forests, purified water fresh from the lakes, and topped with aloe vera for softness. Their packaging is also 100% biodegradable.

+ Best deal: Buy in bulk on Amazon.com $25.12/10 packages

3) Reusable Wipe Recommendation
Mama Rose’s Natural Wipe Packs

Mama Rose’s Natural Wipe Packs are made with an exceptionally mild combination of floral waters, known to be antibacterial and soothing for sensitive and irritated skin. They may also be used on minor cuts, burns, insect bites and for Mamas postnatal discomfort. They dry quickly and are super soft.

+ 4oz spray & 6 wipes is $24

Note: Should your baby develop diaper rash, incorporate diaper creams with calendula into your diapering routine after you have cleaned baby’s bottom. I recommend Jurlique’s Baby’s Soothing Barrier Cream $29 or Weleda’s Diaper Care $11.

Seventh Gen Wipes are made of polyester and will sit around in a garbage dump failing to decompose for just as long as Huggies or Pampers wipes. Their lack of chlorine is good, But are they Eco? Not so muchly.
There are a few tutorials for making your own decomposable or reusable baby wipes lurking around the internets.

This is very helpful–We’ve been using Nature Babycare wipes for months now and really like them, and now we know where to get them for less cash. Thanks!
