JELLIO LED Gummi Bear Lamps!

How cute are these gigantic Gummi Bear LED Lamps? By day these oversized JELLIO rubber Gummi Bears make great room decor for your tot, and in the evening, they do double-duty as nightlights when illuminated by the LED lights in their butts!
There was once a television series called Land of the Giants. The plot is the epitome of what old-timey daytime television was all about: “A space flight crashes on earth, but it is not the same earth the ship was from. They have arrived to a land of giants.” Apparently the designers at Jellio would like one to believe that it is okay to be perpetually stuck in a kiddie version of that make believe world.
Based in Brooklyn, Jellio specializes in oversized, old-fashioned toys and treats that are still a staple of kinderculture. “Hot Wheels, Nerf Balls, Spyrograph, View Masters… remember any of those? Well, that’s the idea behind Jellio.” They also offer retro toy inspired wares including Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots encased in glass, Rubick’s Cube tables and Barrel of Monkeys mirrors.
Then there are the shop’s new GummiLights. Designed by Kevin Champeny, the lamps serve as modern art sculptures during the day, but with LED lights “in their butts,” they turn into otherworldly ambient illuminations at night. GummiLights are powered by three watch-sized batteries, they’re soft to the touch and look good enough to eat. Mario Marsicano over at Jellio guarantees that even though the Gummis are made of “standard rubber”, they contain “no toxic ingredients”. But, I would suggest that parents consider these items furniture, not toys, for big kids who are well past that oral stage.

I wonder if they light up effectively when covered with teeth-marks. They look delicious, and being an adult I know not to nibble, but I could see younger kids finding them irresistable for at least the first one or three tastes…

Very cute but only 20 hours before I have to replace the batteries. I would hope for something that didn’t need batteries.
